Lighting, Water and the Life Cycle of Plants

The life cycle of a plant is a fascinating process. Generally all plants start out as a simple seed. Once planted in the ground, the seed uses water and sunlight to help it grow. Depending on the plant, once the seed receives proper nutrition and care, it can grow into a full grown plant.

Planting seed and watching them grow into full grown plants is a great activity for kids. With regular care, children can monitor the progress of the seed from when it was planted, until it rises above the ground. This can be a fun activity both at school and at home, with teachers and/or parents helping kids with the project.

The following set of links contains a number of lesson plans, activities, games, information and much more on how plants grow. We hope this guide helps teach your children about plants and the life cycle of the plant.
